HK Equestrian Team participated in Junior Dressage Team Final today,
Natalie Fu and Melissa Young qualified the Dressage Individual Final
Friday, 2 August 2019 (Hong Kong) – The 2nd National Youth Games Equestrian Events kicked off today with the Junior Dressage Team Final/Individual Qualification at the YuLong Jockey Club. This also served as the qualifier for the Individual Competition scheduled on 4 August 2019.
The Hong Kong Junior Dressage Team competed the CEA Preparatory Test with 7 other teams from Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Xinjiang. Placings were based on the accumulated percentage scores of the best 3 riders of each team.
All three Hong Kong riders completed the test. Natalie Fu with Fatty placed 12th with 63.89%, Melissa Young and UB Bidou Manciais achieved 61.43% on the 20th place and Hermes Iu with Grandway Flyer scored 58.49%. Hong Kong Team placed 6th in overall team ranking.
It was very unfortunate that Aerosa for Charmaine Ip was forced to withdrawn from the competition before the Horse Inspection yesterday as his temperament did not cope with the environment at the venue.
At the end, Xinjiang Team became the winner with 206.82%, followed by Taiyuan City Sports School from Shanxi at 202.70% and Guangdong Team with 199.36%.
Both Natalie with Fatty and Melissa Young with UB Bidou Manciais qualified for the Individual Final scheduled on 4 August by placing top 20 at the team competition today.
