HKEF online Sharing Session on “Introduction to Dressage Freestyle ” on 28 Nov 2020 (Sat)

 

Under the unprecedented pandemic times, the HKEF has organize a couple of online trainings and sharing sessions covering different aspects of the sport in October. HKEF is delighted to launch our fourth sharing session on “Introduction to Dressage Freestyle” by Mr. Stéphane Morai. This session will be held on 28 November (Sat) from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. It is open to all HKEF members, giving an introduction on Dressage Freestyle which is a comparatively unfamiliar competition format in Hong Kong, to interested members.

 

Background of Mr. Stéphane Morai

Stéphane came from Belgium and has been riding since childhood. After high school, he decided to continue his studies in Germany for 5 years and qualified as BEREITER FN Professional Rider and Trainer. Back in Belgium, Stéphane started to teach and compete up to Grand Prix level and Small Tour on the FEI International circuit. Before moving to Hong Kong, he was the Director of the prestigious riding center, Royal Etrier Belge in Brussels and he also run his own Riding Academy there.

 

Stéphane is currently working as HKJC Senior Dressage Coach at Beas River Equestrian Centre. He was appointed as Senior Dressage Coach at the 2nd National Youth Games 2019. With the training provided by Stéphane, Samantha Chan won the Senior Dressage Individual Bronze Medal with the high score of 70.810%. With rich experience in Dressage, Stéphane is ready to share more about Freestyle Dressage and how to prepare a test with riders and coaches during the session.

Freestyle is an increasingly popular format of competitive dressage. Usually appeared in finals of high-level competitions, dressage freestyle is considered to showcase the proficiency of elite riders. The unique musicality in freestyle competitions adds a new dimension to the test along with the required technical qualities, creating a higher level of entertainment value. It is also one kind of training for not only elite riders, but riders at all levels.
