Dear all members,

HKEF Return to Play – Entries open for the FEI Jumping World Challenge 2020 1st & 2nd Competitions at BREC & TMPRS

The ongoing pandemic has unprecedented impact on our show schedule this year. With the recent improvement on the situation in Hong Kong, we are pleased to inform you that we have obtained the approval and support from both the HKSAR government, the FEI and HKJC despite the challenging prevailing circumstances to run the FEI Jumping World Challenge in the coming December. In order to be in the rankings, an Athlete/Horse combination must compete in a minimum of two Competitions and in any case not more than three Competitions per Category. Thus, the FEI Jumping World Challenge 2020 1st & 2nd Competitions will be organized.

Beas River Equestrian Centre (BREC) used to be the main venue for hosting all the local international events or FEI competitions in Hong Kong. However, owing to the recent HKJC policy, no outsider including riders and horses are allowed to enter into BREC. Thus, competitions at BREC will only open to riders and horses from BREC until further notice. Being the sole governing body for equestrian sport in Hong Kong, we have to ensure that all our shows and events are conducted in an open, fair and transparent manner, so for Graded Events to be sanctioned by the FEI and HKEF, it must be widely accessible to all riders and riding schools. The captioned competitions must be run in accordance with the FEI rules.

In order to provide an equal opportunity to all riders and riding schools in Hong Kong, we have obtained the special permission from the FEI to run the FEI Jumping World Challenge 2020 1st & 2nd Competitions at two venues, including one at BREC for BREC riders and horses and one at Tuen Mun Public Riding School (TMPRS) which can be open to all non-BREC riders and horses. Upon the completion of the competitions at both venues, competition results will be combined for the final placings of all participating riders. Athlete/Horse combination competed in both competition 1 & 2 will be eligible to be included in the rankings. There will be an INDIVIDUAL ranking per Country, per Region and for the World for all 3 Categories.

• FAQ on Riders’ Fall at the warm up arena

According to the latest FEI Jumping Rules Article 224 4.2 Fall, Fall in the practice arena, “in case of a fall of an athlete and/or a horse in the practice arena prior to entering the Competition arena for the first or second round of a Competition, the Athlete must be checked by the Event’s medical service, respectively the Horse must be cleared by the Veterinary Delegate, before the Athlete and /or the Horse may be permitted to take part in the round in progress. In this case the Ground Jury give the Athlete a later starting position in that round if considered necessary. “

A rider fall in the warm up arena can only continue to start if a signed medical form can be obtained by the Event’s medical service. The FEI medical form which is included in the “Doctor’s Pack” (Page 6/7) is attached and can be found at https://inside.fei.org/sites/default/files/FEI%20Doctors%20Pack%20-%20Updated%20May%202019.pdf
