HKEF has recently received an invitation from Equestrian Association of Malaysia to the Merdeka Cup Festival - CSI1* International Show Jumping Competition from 19 – 21 August 2022 (Friday - Sunday) at the Denai Alam Recreation & Riding Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Details of the event:

Please refer to the Tentative Schedule below. 

We are now looking for expressions of interest from HKEF U25 riders who wish to take part in this competition and for a Coach who can also act as Chef d’Equipe:

• Aged under 25 (Year of Birth: 1997 or after) with minimum age of 14 years (YOB: 2008)
• Member of HKEF
• HKSAR passport holder
• Note that the CSI1* competition will be at a minimum of 1.20m. Ideally riders will have competition results at this level, but we will consider submissions from riders who are training at the level and show potential and whose application is endorsed by an HKEF approved coach, recognising that competition opportunities have been very limited over the past two seasons
• Available for the full period of the competition. HKEF will endeavour to organise training in Hong Kong and in Malaysia ahead of the competition - details to be confirmed at a later date.

The following criteria will be taken into account in making selection decisions on the selected athletes:

• Current training level and past results of the athlete at the required level or above;
• Availability of leased horses at suitable level;
• The willingness of the athlete to attend training and compete at shows/ events identified by the Coach as important for preparation for the competition; and
• Availability for the required period of the competition

HKEF will notify riders selected by Monday 18 July.

The following costs will be covered by the HKEF on a strict reimbursement basis:

1. Round trip air ticket (Economy class) for riders and Coach/ Chef d’Equipe 
2. Travel Insurance for riders and Coach/ Chef d’Equipe
3. Accommodation and meals during the competition and overseas training
4. Training sessions as preparation for the competitions 
5. Entry fees
6. Horse leasing fee for training and competition in Malaysia
7. FEI Registration fees for athletes & horses
8. Local transportation between your home airport  and your residence
9. Overseas internal transportation between the airport, accommodation and competition venue

*Accompanying persons will have to bear their own cost on the above items including accommodation

**All athletes, accompanying persons and Coach/ Chef d’Equipe will have to bear their own cost of any government mandated quarantine associated with travel

6. Letter of support and recommendation from rider’s current coach (Applicable to Riders only)
7. Curriculum Vitae (Applicable to applying Coach/ Chef d’Equipe only)

Any late submission or submission with missing document(s) received by HKEF Secretariat will not be processed.
