The HKEF Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2021 begins on 8 April 2021

We have been delighted to see so many entries in this season’s HKEF Inter-school Equestrian Challenge, despite the challenges of the past year. A special format for the Higher and Lower Division competitions has been adopted this year, some details about the judges, scoring and prizes are summarised below:

Lower Division

Small group sessions for the Lower Division begin this week on Thursday 8th April. Dressage and showjumping at each session will be judged by Mr. Christian Allderidge BHSI and scores entered into a league table. Placings in the league table will determine the team and individual prizes.

Team scores will be calculated based on the scores of the three highest-placed team members in each discipline. Special rosettes will be awarded to the top four teams and team champions will be awarded the Ann Baron Memorial Cup and also a special team training session next season.

Rosettes will be awarded to the top six riders in each discipline. In addition, the top six riders with the highest overall scores (dressage + showjumping) will receive special medals.

Higher Division

Please be reminded that all video submissions (dressage and jumping) should be submitted to the HKEF Secretariat by Friday 16th April [here]. We are honoured that Mr. Tim Downes FBHS and Ms. Deborah Coulson BHSI have agreed to be our video judges for the Higher Division. These video entries take the place of the heats normally held for this competition and the scores achieved here in each discipline will be used to determine individual placings as well as the initial team placings. Within each discipline, rosettes will be awarded to the top six riders in each discipline. In addition, the top six riders with the highest overall scores (dressage + showjumping) will receive special medals.

Initial team scores will be calculated based on the scores of the three highest-placed team members in each discipline and the top four teams will be invited to take part in a competition final to be held at LWSC in May. All team finalists will receive special rosettes. In addition, each rider in the winning Higher Division team will be awarded HK$8,000 to be used towards an approved equestrian training programme of his/her choice.
