Vincent Ng and Owen Wong participated in Junior Show Jumping Individual Final at the 2nd National Youth Games

Thursday, 8 August 2019 (Hong Kong) – The Show Jumping competitions at the 2nd National Youth Games came to an end with the Junior Show Jumping Individual Final being held this afternoon. Vincent Ng and Owen Wong competed against 23 finalists from Anhui, Beijing, Hangzhou, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Ningxia, Shanghai, Shanxi, Xinjiang and Yunnan.
The Show Jumping Individual Final was held under Table A, with one round against the clock with one jump off at the maximum height of 90cm.
Vincent with Comment CA VA VXV had a fantastic round with only 4 faults and finished the course in 79.22 seconds, while Owen was unlucky to have 2 refusals which made him eliminated.
Altogether 12 top placed riders with clear round qualified for the jump off. At the end, Ba Fang-hui from Shanghai took home the Junior Show Jumping Individual Gold Medal with a clear round in 27.49 seconds, with only 0.38 seconds faster than the closest rival, Deng Chao from Jiangsu who also had a clear round. The third place belonged to Shi Zhi-rang from Shanxi with a clear round in 32.27 seconds.
All our Senior and Junior Show Jumping riders gained a lot of experience by participating at the Games and were very thankful to have ridden the competition horses kindly offered by the R&D Riding Club over the past few weeks.
As of today, the Hong Kong Equestrian Delegation has already completed the mission in taking part in both Dressage and Show Jumping competitions, all riders will return to Hong Kong tomorrow.
All in all, the HKEF and the entire Hong Kong Equestrian Delegation at the 2nd National Youth Games were very pleased to have 2 Senior and 2 Junior Dressage riders qualified for the Senior Dressage Individual Final and Junior Dressage Individual Final respectively, as well as 3 Senior and 2 Junior Show Jumping riders qualified for the Senior Show Jumping Individual Final and Junior Show Jumping Individual Final respectively. And most happily with the Bronze Medal achieved by Samantha Chan with G. Xiao Liang Liang at the Senior Dressage Individual Final.
Once again, we would like to thank all 16 riders for their efforts to represent Hong Kong at the Games. At the same time, our warmest appreciation goes to all team officials, namely our Chef d’ Equipe, Angela Kong; Coaches, Christian Allderidge, Joss Gray, Gary Johnston and Stephane Morai; Team Veterinarian, Dr. Adele Lee, all grooms, family and friends for their contribution throughout the preparation and the entire Games period. Last but not least, we would like to extend our gratitude to The Equestrian Foundation Limited, HKJC, HKSI, LCSD and LWSC for their kind assistance and support, as well as the R&D Riding Club for their generous sponsorship of competition horses for our team.
