Hong Kong Equestrian Federation Celebrates The 2022 – 2023 Season's Winners

 

As the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation season comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the exceptional achievements of our athletes, their horses, and the support teams who made it all possible. Through dedication, talent, and perseverance, our equestrian community has overcome challenges and reached incredible heights, demonstrating the spirit of excellence that defines this sport.

 

This year's Eventing Horse of the Year Award goes to Jessica Williams and her partner, New Elegance. This prestigious title recognizes the best-performing eventing horse-rider combination of the season, with points accumulated through placement in HKEF graded competitions and FEI competitions held in Hong Kong.

In the Jumping category, the Good King Cup has been awarded to Christian Allderidge and his horse, Puccini. This accolade celebrates the top-performing Jumping horse-rider combination of the season, with points earned through placements in HKEF graded competitions and FEI competitions held in Hong Kong.

For Dressage, Stephane Morai and Illinois have won the Dressage Horse of the Year Award, also known as the Dragon Hall Dressage Trophy. This award honors the best-performing Dress horse-rider combination of the season, with points counted from each combination's eligible level in HKEF graded competitions and FEI competitions held in Hong Kong.

The Overall Horse of the Year Award, also named the Helen Griffiths Memorial Trophy, is a prestigious award given to the best-performing horse-rider combination that has competed in all three disciplines (Jumping, Dressage, and Eventing) during the season. This year's winner is Christian Allderidge and Come on Wongchoy, who achieved the highest combined ranking according to the ranking lists of the three individual disciplines.

The Grimshaw Plate, awarded to the winner of the top class at the Jumping Horse of the Year Show, has been won by Kate Lumsden and Excellent Amie. This award highlights the incredible skill and talent required to excel in this discipline.

The Junior Rider of the Year Award, the Jose Remedios Memorial Trophy, is given to the best-performing junior rider aged 18 or below who has shown exceptional talent and dedication in all three disciplines throughout the season. This year's winner is Sarah Broderick.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Best Retired Racehorse Award and Best "Newcomer" Retired Racehorse Awards celebrate the retired racehorses that have successfully transitioned into equestrian sports. This season, Come on Wongchoy from Lo Wu Saddle Club has won the Best Retired Racehorse Award, while New Elegance, Baby Dragon, and New Elegance again have captured the Best "Newcomer" Retired Racehorse Awards for Eventing, Jumping, and Dressage, respectively.
