Owen Wong and Vincent Ng qualified for Junior Show Jumping Individual Final at the 2nd National Youth Games

Wednesday, 7 August 2019 (Hong Kong) – Following the Senior Show Jumping competition held this morning, the Junior Show Jumping Team Final/Individual Qualification continued at the YuLong Jockey Club this afternoon.
The Junior Show Jumping Team Final/Individual Qualification was held under Table A, with one round against the clock at the maximum height of 90cm. Placings were determined by the accumulated penalties of the best 3 riders in each team, followed by the time taken to complete the round. There were altogether 16 team in this class, namely Anhui, Beijing, Chongqing, Guangdong, Hangzhou, Heilongjiang, Hong Kong, Hubei, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Ningxia, Shanghai, Shanxi, Xinjiang and Yunnan.
Owen Wong riding Amsterdam finished in 18th place with a clear round in 60.15 seconds, while Vincent Ng with Comment CA VA VXV also had a clear round in 63.58 seconds and placed 23rd. Aden Yeung riding Jelino L had 8 penalties and Joshua Chan with L87 Tom’s Eigth had 12 penalties. Hong Kong Team placed 13th of out 16 teams in the overall ranking. Being the only team using borrowed horses, we were thrilled to have both Owen Wong and Vincent Ng qualified for the Individual Final scheduled tomorrow.
At the end of the competition, Shanghai Team became the winner with 3 clear rounds in total 161.85 seconds. The second place belonged to Hangzhou Team with 3 clear rounds in total 178.17 seconds, with just 1 second faster than the third placed Jiangsu Team, which also had 3 clear rounds in total 179.21 seconds.
