Representatives of HK Equestrian Team attended the Celebration Reception for the HKSAR Delegation to the 2nd National Youth Games
Wednesday, 25 September 2019 – The Celebration Reception for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Delegation to the 2nd National Youth Games (NYG) hosted by the HKSAR Government was held at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre yesterday evening.
At the reception, Acting Director of Leisure and Cultural Services and Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Delegation, Ms. Ida Lee, presented commendation certificates to the representatives of Senior and Junior Dressage and Show Jumping Teams in recognition of their efforts and outstanding performance in the Games. Samantha Chan, the Senior Dressage Individual Bronze Medallist who won the first equestrian medal for the HK Delegation, was presented the certificate by Mrs. Cherry Tse, the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs and Honorary Adviser of the Delegation.
Speaking at the celebration reception, Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr. Lau Kong-wah, and President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and Chairman of Organising Committee of the Delegation, Mr. Timothy Fok, offered their warmest congratulations to the Hong Kong athletes on their successful participation and fruitful achievements in the 2nd NYG, promising to further promote sports development for youth in Hong Kong.
The 2nd National Youth Games in Shanxi were concluded successfully in August 2019, with over 800 athletes and staffs forming the Hong Kong Delegation to participate in final competitions in 27 sports. Hong Kong achieved remarkable results and took home a total of 40 medals, 10 times more than the figure for the 1st NYG. For the first time, equestrian events were included in the 2nd NYG and the HKEF was delighted to have 9 riders qualified for Dressage and Show Jumping Individual Finals, and were most happily with the Bronze Medal achieved by Samantha Chan.
Once again, the HKEF would like to thank all 16 riders, namely Vincent Capol, Joshua Chan, Samantha Chan, Annabel Dyson, Natalie Fu, Edgar Fung, Charmaine Ip, Hermes Iu, Bryan Lam, Natasha Lee, Daniella Lin, Vincent Ng, Owen Wong, Claudia Wrobel, Aden Yeung and Melissa Young, for their efforts to represent Hong Kong at the Games. Our warmest appreciation also goes to all team officials for their contribution throughout the preparation and the entire Games period. We look forward to have more riders participating in the next NYG.
