Rules apply for Higher Division in 2024:
In view of the entries for the Higher Division this year, which comprises 4 teams and 11 individually-entered riders, the following rule will apply for the 2024 Inter-school Equestrian Challenge. This rule is designed to produce more exciting heats for teams as well as more incentive for individually-entered riders, who will now be eligible for places in the final and for the additional prizes detailed below.
Classification for the heats (addendum)
The mean score (dressage + jumping) of the riders in the 4th placed team must be greater than the median score of the individually-entered riders (i.e. when there are 11 individually-entered riders, this is the score of the 6th-placed individually-entered rider).
In the case that the mean score of riders in the 4th placed team does not exceed the median score of the individually-entered riders, then the highest-placed individually-entered riders will proceed to the final to produce a maximum of 16 finalists.
This rule modifies the scoring referred to in 6.b. (Heats: Higher Division) and 7.c. (Classification for the heats) of the Entry Form.
Additional prizes for finalists in the 2024 EFHKC Inter-school Equestrian Challenge (Higher Division):
For the competition final, the highest scoring rider in dressage and the highest scoring rider in showjumping will each receive funding from the EFHKC of up to HK$5,000, payable towards an approved programme of training as selected by the rider. The chosen programme of training should be undertaken before 27 Dec. 2024 (Friday) and must be approved in advance by the Training and Selection Sub Committee (TSSC) of the EFHKC.
Entries and Eligibility
Participants in the EFHKC Inter-school Equestrian Challenge must be members of the EFHKC.
Each entrant must have previously competed in each discipline at a level equivalent to that of the relevant Division of entry (e.g. the same Division of the EFHKC Inter-school Equestrian Challenge in a previous year; the preliminary class of a ‘Mini’ Inter-school competition at LWSC (for the Lower Division) or the ‘Warm-up’ Show at TMPRS (for the Higher Division); a gazetted show at BREC, etc.).
In order to further encourage young riders to continue to compete throughout the year, the EFHKC will provide free junior membership for the current season* to all participants in the EFHKC Inter-school Equestrian Challenge who have not already been admitted as members.
To apply for free junior membership, entrants should complete the membership form and return it to the EFHKC together with a HK Identity Card/passport copy and address proof.

Entry fees are non-refundable.
